Clip start marker and groove phase

I have noticed that if I set the start marker of an audio loop before bar 1 (in clip view, so as to fix the wrong assumption made by Live), and then extract a groove, the groove will have its start marker at bar 1, thus it will play out of phase, rather, it will time out of phase with the original loop

How do you get the start marker before 1 in a loop in the first place? Was this a longer piece of audio that's not been cropped?

Yes, it is a complete track, part of which has been looped.
