Can't overdub in Looper - mapped controllers not working?

Hi all! So, I'm relatively new to Live, but I think I know my way round. This has me stumped though...

I'm trying to use the Looper plugin. I map a controller on a CC (a pedal via an Alesis ControlPad or a Mi.Mu Glove) and things get weird. Pressing the big button to record my first loop works fine, but overdub mode switches back to play mode within a beat. If I hit the big button via the controller again, it will only stay in overdub mode for a beat.

If I click the big button with the mouse, it works as expected. Any idea why this button wouldn't work when mapped? I can map any other button to the same controller and all is good. Any clues?

I think I read somewhere that the MIDI message sent to control the big button shouldn't contain CC messages, but only MIDI notes. I just tried it and it works ;)

    I have a similar problem:

In an audio track I want to automate the 'state' of Looper so that it 'record's 1 bar, stops, then 'play's the loop again 1 bar later. The problem is that after i 'record' the first loop, as soon as it hits the next automation, for example, 'play' (or 'stop')  the whole session DE-Enables Automation (button turns red) and therefore all the automations in the track are ignored throughout playback.

It works fine if -while session is playing- I manually 're-enable automations' after the first loop recording, however this defeats the purpose of being able to record loops while playing other instruments.

Is there a way to deactivate the "deactivation of automation" once a loop is recorded?

(please note that the number of bars is simply for example's sake. Any value gives the same result)

    PLEASE HELP
