Audio works, but clips don't play

My audio is all set up in the preferences, and I can hear instruments when they're being monitored. However, when I record a clip and then play it back, there's nothing. When I press the Back to Arrangement button, there's still nothing. When I record a clip in arrangement view, the name bar for the clip is greyed out and there's no color, but when I record it in session view it looks perfectly fine, but both don't work once I've recorded the clip. Does this have something to do with my master bar being blue? How can I fix this so that I can actually make music?

Just found the issue, try unfreezing the track.

In the top right of the arrangement view there's a button that looks like - ►≡

Click that and everything in the arrangement view will 'un-grey' and be audible on playback in this view.

Yes, I know about the back to arrangement button. When I press it, the clip is still greyed out and there's no color in the box, and nothing plays.

Have you actually dragged a clip to the arrangement time line? If you go back to your clip view, left click and hold the mouse button over a clip. Whilst the button is still held down, press the Tab key on your keyboard to switch back to arrangement view and then (mouse button still held down) drag the clip to the required track, a clip with the same colour should then appear on the time line.

There's a video tutorial here - https://www.ableton.com/en/articles/getting-started-7-session-arrangement-view/ (the bit I mention appears at 2:30 - though in this case they're dragging a clip from arrangement to clip view, whereas you're doing it the other way round)

Simple answer, since you've just recorded you need to turn back your track input from In back to Auto.  Now your clip should be colored and play back!  :)
