Novation SL Mk II news and a chance to win a Zero SL Mk II

The latest version of Ableton Live provides complete, seamless integration of Novation's SL Mk II series of controllers--Live's main controls are now automatically assigned to the Mk II's 56 knobs, faders and buttons. Live and the SL Mk II controllers communicate: load a new instrument and the Mk II's LCD display reflects the change. The LED rings around the controls even change to match the current state of the corresponding controls in Live. For instance, open Live's Auto Filter and you'll instantly see "cutoff," "res," and other parameters displayed on the LCD screen above the SL Mk II's controls, along with their current values. The LED rings around those controls will simultaneously adjust to reflect the current states of Live's Auto Filter controls.

Note: Full integration of Live with the SL Mk II requires a free firmware update from Novation, and you'll need to install Live 8.1.3, the latest version of Live, or higher.

Win a Zero SL Mk II

To celebrate this announcement, Novation is giving away a Zero SL Mk II. Find out how to win at Novation's competition page.

More about the SL Mk II series

  • The SL Mk II is available with a 25-, 49- or 61-note keyboard or in a keyless model (Zero SL Mk II). All models are USB powered, so no external power supply is required.
  • With the SL Mk II's comprehensive mixer control, simply touch a fader to see the channel name and volume level on the large LCD screen. Buttons beneath the fader will light if the track is activated or record enabled. Touch any knob or fader to see which Live function it is assigned to on the LCD screen.
  • Launch scenes with Mk II's back-lit buttons. You can also set up a row of 8 back-lit buttons to launch clips. You'll always know a clip's status, as the buttons light to indicate when clips are playing.
