There are some nice tools out there:

Effectrix
dBlue Glitch
Fast FX
...

Sampler,
Simpler,
or maybe some wicked live racks,
Kontakt,
Short Circuit,
BeatRepeat...

I´m looking for a tool that offers maximum twist + control. Whats your choice?

Effectrix, by far.

CamelSpace has some excellent gating going on as well. Not exactly beat mangling, but can work to chop things up nicely.

For audio loops .. I'm really digging the 'slice to midi' feature. gives lots of control to totally mash the original....

Beat Repeat is cool..

+1 for Camelspace for adding wacked-out-ed-ness!

Sampler also is well juicy!

I like the LiveCut VST plug for arbitrary glitchery. For more 'hands on' stuff, I'll use CList's 'BeatLookup' in Reaktor; it's one of the single best audio mangling tools out there...

...and it's free! (If you've got R5, that is!)

long strip of fx tweaking into audio clip.
make 20 or so smaller clips, all in the same track, from the long clip, pointing to different regions.
reverse some, stretch some (if it suits the sound)
then ... follow actions (1/8 or 1/16 rate)
--> through FX
--> recorded into another long strip

repeat this process until you have randomish chopped digital goo.

i do this alot, maybe too much ...

works good with midi data too!

Reaktor, I also like Effectrix and Camelspace in fact I combine them together
and create all sorts of madness.

Mike & other Reaktor users: What ensembles do you use? I´ve listened to the demos of drumcrate & was impressed!
