lol yeah we agree, the older models of motu unit go for about the same price though, I've seen them for around £90-£100
ah, that's a cool price, I reckon. Ýou can't go wrong with MOTU. Also the Emagic Unitor8 has a patchbay mode, i love mine
Only real disadvantage to it I think is that its a second hand item, and so you are going to be constrained by having to find one of them, as opposed to simply buying one from a shop

I would be very interested in how the whole "Narod Niki" thing was set up back then!

My attempts to sync using midi clock weren't that great.

Make a kick on one system and percussion on another and you can hear they're not synced tight enough. Anybody has some other experiences, or tips?

Isn't it possible to sync via digitally (spdif) to get it tighter?

Thanks

I've heard them here in Berlin and have to say the timing was like crap.
Even the soundset wasn't that good I supposed... No, they were not synced.

they are not synchronized. they all use the built in soundcard so everybody has the same latency. So told me zip after the montreux gig.
it has really been the best electronic live performance I saw in my life.

well, I would go for the 1 midi clock thru 8 outs, have everyone use the same audio latency, use the metronomes to sync the machines one by one to your master clock metronome, via preferences midi clock delay setting, it is easy to hear tight sync, with the metronome or other tight percussion sound.... and you should be pretty good!

Aha, I thought you should use the Audio>Latency>Driver Error Compensation> parameter to adjust you overal latency to become 0.

Or should you use them both to get your computers in sync?

Thanks and greets!

Ps: Isn't MTC sync tigther than the midi clock sync?
