I dont know who is the queen jajaja, but for me this units is amazing.......sorry for repeat.

The only bad point i see on the unit is the rotary knobs, feel a little cheap......if compare with any Allen & heat mixer.

Lot of guys report trouble of hiss noise...........but my unit no have the problem, aparently the problem only is present in the first units produced.

Any question have about this unit just ask and i try repply.

For anyone dont know what is KORG ZERO 8 i resume to the best and more complete all in one mixer-midicontroller-soundcard.

Dj-Grobe:

can u really stream 8 stereo channels from live to the zero 8 ?
at witch sample / bit rates ?

to be fair i only needed 2 mono + 6 stereo but that makes 14 outs,
more than most soundcards allow and with the fuss of cables and mixer...
the zero 8 seems almost too perfect to be true

last q: are u on win or osx ?

You can do that with zero 8, you can route from ableto to mixer chanels.
You can send 8 stereo.
Korg zero 8 have sound card with 24bits and multiple sample rates, 44.1 , 48khz, 96khz, and 192khz.
Upo to 24 bit 48khz you can use all functions of korg, when you increase the sample rate to 92khz or 192khz, some thing like effects , send etc etc have limitation.
For more detailed info read the manual
http://www.korguksupport.co.uk/upload/ZERO8_OM_efg1.pdf

This manual not complete, the manual make reference to korg 1.4 firmware, they realesed version 1.5 and 1.6 with great improvements and more funcntions.

Importante NOTE from manual for mac suers:

Using the ZERO8 at the 192 kHz sampling rate
When using Mac OS X, the 192 kHz sampling rate is not
supported.

amazing stuff

thanks for the detailed and very usefull info

i´ll also take the chance to ask for 2 or 3 more details if u dont mind..

the 1st is quite simple and maybe even naive from me, the korg will gladly accept mono signals from live, right ?
i ask this bcs of my 2 desired mono channels (kick + bass)
i always wanted to try this scheme but i ususally end with those tracks in strereo...

the 2 nd q is regarding live´s sends and returns,
are they managed in some way by the zero 8 ?
i noticed each mixer channel has a zero fx knob and 2 ext ones,
can these be used to kontrol the live´s sends (i suppose the audio + midi mode shoud allow this)
the returns have to be assigned to one of the mixer channels ?
this would waste one of those precious faders and steal he control of one of the stereo channels i wanted...

Not 100% secure due i no tets MONO signals but think can work i make some test and back soon.

About the send and returns, based on my knoledge you cant do nothing realted to that, just can use mode AUDIO + MIDI and use midi for asign to sends, and you cna control the returns with any of the 8 midi knobs located up the LCD screen. (that are endless encoder with push button, and have 8 banks, so you can setup part of one back for all return you need.

Best regards.

dj:

tx alot for all your time and willingness to answer my qs

it would be really nice if we could always have the same kind of feedback on new gear ;)

my issue with the returns is not so much to control them as i usually leave them alone at 0db,
i was referring to their routing to the zero 8,
as i did not want to have them on the mixer faders,
but wanted to feed them into the mix
do u think it is it possible ?

so the 8 encoders are push butons aswell (ala mackie or bcf and not novation)
silly q about this: is it the push buton on the same cc as the encoder ?
i suppose this is not hadwired as from what i have read in manual the zero 8 seems to be extensivelly configurable

the reason i ask is this,
im getting used to have the push buton act as a default,
so i can twist the parameter around and just return it to default value at the push of a button, er.. lol
ideally in live i would perform this on midi mapping with the push on another cc,
or if the zero itself allows me to send a specific value to the same cc at the push
either way im dependant on the midi programability of the zero 8

sorry, but i cannot resist to ask this: does the zero 8 report any info on the encoder controlled parameter names like mackie control or novation automap
