Anybody else get this now? Ran the updater this morning and installed the airport update, now a simple live project with 4 tracks glitches like mad. I turn off airport .. poof ... no more glitches ... turn it back on, poof! glitches!

Not good for keeping IM converstaions going while making music :(

10.4.11

according to the apple forums, to fix it. you have to download the AirPortExtremeUpdate2007004, use pacifist to extract the ktext file thingy and drop it into the corresponding folder on the mac hd. I did it, and no more crackles!!

Damn! Just read this after installing the update. It's not only Live, but also if I stream some music via Firefox, having the airport on definitely causes audio crackles. Apple forgot to test this one, I think.

Thanks for posting the thread to fix it. :)

Arse! Just followed the thread's instructions, rolled back the IO80211Family.kext to the 2007 version, restarted and it still crackles like a gently sizzling fried egg. Anyone else?

Edit: Double-checked the date of the replacement .kext file to ensure it was from 2007 and Apple Update recognises that I've got an old version of the file, so I reckon I followed the instructions correctly, but no joy...

I'm on Tiger 10.4.11 - I thought I'd stay on Tiger and not upgrade to Leopard yet to keep some stability! Ho, ho, seems Apple had other ideas...

Same here on a MacBook running tiger and live 7.

Much less problems in Logic though. Surprise that eh?

one thing is sure...last airport update make audio glitches...
and on 10.5.1 auto update don't install airport update if 10.5.2 is not installed

by beats me
Before I install any OSX updates I always wait a few days to see if people on here are going ape shit with frustration over it. It's served me well so far. I'm still on 10.4.10 (or whatever) when I think the most current version is 10.4.11.

I'm of the mind that if it ain't broken then don't fix (update) it.
