The best way i found is to adjust the volume on the clip envelope. By default it is a horizontal line on the clip you can drag up and down like a volume slider. Velocity won't always work (CC7 might not either). But this becomes second nature after a while.

Not having a volume slider is kind of backwards though.

sorry. i made a mistake and was unable to delete the post…

but i have a suggestion for you – it's complicated and need something like IAC for audio…

1) make a midichannel and put reaktor as an instrument.
2) route "Audio To" to the virtual channel
3) build a reaktor patch:
a) that always sends a i.e. 400Hz sine to output and compares the volume to the level you receive at your virtual audiochannel. this will generate your CC7
b) bypass all the incoming midi data to your external port and send CC7 on top.

just a suggestion. i don't know if there are any virtual "software" audiochannels
