So it looks like the update is about recorded midi timing monitor problem and not just jitter, which is good.

I am another who is having problems with the "record what you hear" issue.

If I were to nitpick, yeah I'd agree it should have been a Live 6 update. But it looks like they had to rework that part of the program so I can certainly understand and I'm not going to hold it against them.

What if they hadn't reworked it at all or continued to go along thinking the timing is fine?! I'm just thankful they finally are fixing it! I would have eventually upgraded to 7 anyway...just a matter of time.

:)
specifics, please?
I ran a bunch of tests with phase cancellation of recorded audio vs midi vs render, etc with various monitoring options in l7b2. I definitely see timing differences, not sure what they mean yet.
You're right there is a difference.
I just did a simple MIDI recording from one MIDI track in Live to another. I used a one bar loop and overdub recorded it like eight times, once with Monitor Auto and once with Monitor Off.
Here is the result fully zoomed in on the first note (B3 is Monitor Auto, B1 is Monitor Off)

Obviously there is a small variable delay but it seems to be more or less the same for Monitor Auto and Off.
Here is the Project file I used (Live 7 needed to open)
