New Live update available (Live 3.0.3)

Post by Alex » Thu Mar 18, 2004 4:25 pm

Hi folks,

Within this announcement, a new version of Live is available (Live 3.0.3).
It's probably not necessary for most existing Live users to download and
install this version because the focus on this update is only to improve the
understanding of Live.

Therefore the main features of Live 3.0.3 are:

- A new Session and Arrangement demo song.

- A tutorial accompanies the Session demo song.
To watch this tutorial you have to use Live 3.0.3 and to open the new
"SessionDemo.als".

- An index for the english pdf manual.

Furthermore some Live 3.0.3 included bug fixes:

==============================================================================
01 Subject: Crash on Quit

OS: OS X

Bug: Some user had the problem that Live crashed on quit depending on the
installed ReWire slaves.

Status: Fixed

==============================================================================
02 Subject: Crash when lost MIDI clock data

OS: All

Bug: When Live is synced as slave using MIDI clock ("EXT" on) it has an
internal checker running to verify if MIDI clock data are coming in.
If no MIDI clock data is coming in for a while Live shows a message
that the MIDI clock source is lost. But instead of showing this message
Live crashed.

Status: Fixed

==============================================================================
03 Subject: Digital Distortion for Audio In

OS: Windows

Bug: There was a bug in the conversion of audio input data when using an ASIO
audio interface with a stream format of 32BitLSB24 (like Korg Oasys on Windows)

Status: Fixed

==============================================================================
04 Subject: Minor layout corrections

The update is available on our website www.ableton.com/downloads

Kind regards,
Alex

Hallo
Die Auslastungs-Anzeige steht im gegensatz zu live 3.0.2 immer auf 10%.
in Live 3.0.2 sind es 5%.
Ist das ein Anzeigefehler?

Thanks Ableton! Fresh sounding DemoArrangement by the way! Not the obvious arty or 4-on-the-floor kind of stuff. Guitars! I love 8)

I just downloaded the latest version 3.0.3 and I have the following questions:

1) Where is the new "SessionDemo.als"? Maybe this was a typo and Alex meant that "DemoSession.als" has been updated. Please clarify, as I have not found any new .als files at all and the existing "DemoSession.als" seems exactly the same as the one in the previous release.

2) Where is this new tutorial? I must be really dumb because I need more information on how to launch the tutorial. I didn't find any "Tutorial" menu item under the Help menu. I didn't find any new tutorial in the manual.

Thanks.

ps. Yes, I have double checked the version number after installation and it is definately 3.0.3

is this version going to fix the bug problem we all had with using scuzzphut vst plugins? I was told a while back you were working on that bug.

Hi tezza,

you're right. The demo song is called "DemoSession.als". So it was my mistake, sorry for the confusion.
Be sure that you really open the "DemoSession.als" from the Live 3.0.3 installation to be able to watch the Tutorial.

Hi nosuch & raapie

the Live 3.0.3 demo song was done by Christian (from the ableton support).
The demo song coming with the previous Live 3 versions was done by Robert (aka Monolake).

Hi guest,
but horizontal arrows dont work (to scroll right)
You probably mean the arrows of the horizontal slider for the Session view.
This is a known bug. Unfortunately the fix for that needs changes in different places so we decided it is to risky to do that within an update. It will be fixed within the next major version of Live.

Alex
