Groove quantize in live 6

here's a really easy way to get groove quantize:
1. select the clip that has the groove you want.
2. warp the clip as if you were quantizing it to 'perfect' timing.
3. loop the clip in arrange view to cover the length of your entire song.
4. set the loop as the 'master' tempo.

now everything that is quantized normally will push and pull to fit the groove of your original clip. sorry if this has been posted before...

So subtle, but it works wonders. Really, my music is so much more involving now.

I don't quite get it.. isn't it true that when warping your sample it will automatically be perfect on beat? With absolutely no swing..?

And doesn't the clip sound warped? And how do i quantize the other tracks synced to this one?

no way! very nice. now to apply some merengue grooves to stuff.

lazy, look in the manual for 'tempo master clips' if you haven't figured it

nope...that's where setting the clip to 'master' comes in...this forces live to use that clip as the governing tempo, so if you have a lot of warp markers, it will speed up and slow down everything else to match the changes in the clip.

are you really putting this on an entire track? only for drum loops?

i tried doing a quick bassline and a drum loop and i could hear the difference this made, it was enough to make me try this a few times but are you using this for more groove in your percs or everything?

i don't use it at all. so many people complain about groove quantize though that it struck me as a solution when it came up in another thread.

I can't figure out how to set a clip as master tempo, I'm sure it's really easy and obvious but I can't seem to figure it out.

Any help folks?

its easy to miss...the master/slave button appears in the "sample" pane of the clip view along the bottom of the screen, right below the warp button. the catch (and why it's easily missed) is it only appears when the clip is placed on a track in the arrange view.

Thanks a lot. I finally realized that I had to click on the slave button to turn it into master. I'm very stoked about this feature. Live just keeps getting better and better!

Here are some mpc midi groove templates from the gearslutz board:

http://www.gearslutz.com/board/attachme ... es.mid.zip

I loaded them in live, let them play a hihat, freezed the track, fixed it as audio and proceeded as in the first post.

Now you got mpc swing master groove clips!

appreciate the effort, but groove quantizing is still needed. this method is too restricted and i can't change the tempo. groove quantize! bring it!
