This is absurd.

Version 6 and still no time signature changes are allowed in the session view?

When is this going to be implemented?

This is why. 47 views and No one cares.

Everyone writes songs in 4/4 with an occasional adventure into 3/4 or 6/8 and perhaps 7/8. But mixing of meters? Never.

Never cross streams...

People should be making a huge deal about this. Live is on it's 6th version and this is ridiculous.

There is a post like this every month

Is somebody forcing you to use ableton guys ?

Did you ever notice the Real time strecthing options in live ?

Maybe it's a bit hard to implement it on different metric, in fact I don't know.

IMO a thread like this should never leave the front page of the forum.

I've been experimenting on some tunes with a drummer friend of mine. He writes some stuff, I write some stuff and we get together and see if it works.

He has the nice tune with a few meter changes and he was completely mystified why I couldn't trigger loops of the proper meter over him.

It was completely lame.

just out of curiosity; you say this with a cynical smile or do you really mean this?

cause I actually do think the less mainstream music deserves more attention..

this board and Live are way too much foaw to the floaw orientated..

maybe i'm wrong about this, but can't each clip in session view have it's own time signature?

laughable response

"is someone forcing you to use ableton"

just because you don't mix time signatures means we ought to change apps?
yeah, OK.

have we ever tried the real time time stretching? you are 12 years old right?

It's a weakness for sure in live, i'm not tellin anyone to use 4/4 all the time.

But if you need to do it all the time maybe live is not the right tool for you.

There is tons of software to do it.

So go use it.

For sure I wish to see that in live, it's prolly the only thing that can force me to use another software since live 6 is out.

I do believe that live 6 is a really great update even if the apps still not perfect.

I don't think it's "absurd" to not have time signature change for the 6 upgrade even if its a big omission.

I'm not 12, i'm near 8 and I already think that that kind of approach is lame.

I agree sometimes Live isn't the best tool. But It's the only DAW that has this 'non-linear' approach to making music. There's nothing else like it out. In Live you can stetch out an idea and do amazing things with it. And do it very quickly. It's such an amazing program. Yet it has the shackles. You can't put an extra 2 beat rest, or change time signatures. It's very, very restricting.

If more people made a big deal about this lack of meter changing, I think ableton would have done something about it a long time ago.

Easy on the double negatives.

Everyone has their rant on Live on 'simple feature requests that are easy to code' I trust the Abes are well aware of what the competition offers and they don't. Vote with your money and use the Feature Request Forum.

Maybe you can work around by using your ears and labelling clips by how many bars it is as 11/7 time and follow mode.

there are work arounds, but I agree- It would be a very nice feature, perhaps labeling a scene with a " / " measurement (like 3/4, 5/4, etc, kind of following the same logic as tempo changing scenes by bpm.
