Mac installation problem!!!

Post by trueblue » Sun Nov 23, 2003 2:52 am

Hi,

I just purchased Live 2.03 yesterday at GC and copied the folder onto my hard drive as stated. When I try to launch Live my mac just freezes!!

What is up with this program?

Mac OS 9.2.2

Live 1.5 thru to 3.0 all work here with 9.2.2

Do you have any other music software working on 9.2.2 (Like Cubase, Logic, ProTools etc, etc)?

Did you get the Live demo working?

Try the latest version 3 demo.

I am using Motu DP3 as well as Reason and Battery!

Everything works!

Thanks for responding!

No Live 2.03 does not work!

I downloaded 3.0 and that version does not work. I can open DP3 and that is fine but when I try to open Reason 2.5 my Mac just freezes. So the attempted install of Live broke Reason as well!

Thanks for your help...

Yes, you do need Carbon Lib 1.6 extension.

Also, I know its probably a stupid question but are you sure you tried to install the 9.2.2 version of the demo of Live and not the OS X version ??

Also are you sure you have not added any third party VST plugins to the Live VST plugin folder before booting Live up. It is known to act strangely with some plugins

You didn't install the Live Folder in the system folder did you ??

Good Luck.

One more thing Michael. How are you running your midi? Serial or USB and are you using OMS?

Murray,

I have been on the road the last couple of days. Here is more information:

I purchased Live 2.03 from Guitar Center this is not a demo version. I have carbonlib 1.6 on my system (OS 9.2.2). I use a MOTU Fastlane USB for midi and I am running OMS Emulator. I have not added any VST plugins yet. I haven't gotten that far, Live just crashes my computer whenever I try to launch! Also, I followed the directions and dragged the Mac OS 9 folder to my hard drive I did not put it in any folders.

Thanks for all of your help!

I am wondering why this process has also broke my Reason 2.5 install?

Certainly is strange Michael.

The only link I can see between Reason 2.5 and Live is ReWire.
I use ReWire extension version 1.4.7.

That version comes with Reason 2.5 as I recall. I don't have Reason at all altho I do have ReBirth 2.01.

I got the Reason 2.5 ReWire extension from the local dealer and it seems to have fixed an unrelated ReWire verify error I was getting in Cubase 5.x

Maybe Live 2.03 has replaced the ReWire extension so I would check which version of the ReWire extension you now have and if its not the one that comes with Reason 2.5 replace it.
