[awi] MAudio2496 serious program error

I just downloaded the Live3 demo. Looks great! but...when I go to switch audio driver from MME/DirectX to ASIO, I get a message that "Device could not be opened" on my M Audio Delta AP Multichannel. Another window pops up saying "A serious program error has occured". If I leave the setting at ASIO, close the program, and relaunch it, I get the "serious program error" before Live even finishes booting. Any tips?

Hello,

please make sure you are using the latest driver for the M-Audio piece. Up to date drivers are available from www.m-audio.com.

Thank you.

Hello -

I have the same error w/a Delta 1010 and the Live 3 Demo under WinXP SP1. I am using the .29 version of the Delta drivers which are the latest. Any thoughts on how to solve this?

Thank you. :-)

Hi natallica,

have you tried updating your driver?

To which version? Even last night when I looked 5.10.00.29 was the latest. The beta .31 version scares me (I've tried their other betas before with really bad results) and even M-Audio says: HOME THEATER OPTIMIZED DRIVER - Pro users should use the 5.10.00.29 driver.

I am able to get the demo working with my laptop and the Echo Indigo drivers, but I would really like to try to get it working on the desktop as well since that's my main production system.

No other software has ASIO problems on the desktop (and the Delta 1010 drivers) with the exception of Live...

Is there a log file that Live writes to on a crash that I can try to post in order to try to nail down this problem?

Thanks again...

Hi natallica
Is there a log file that Live writes to on a crash that I can try to post in order to try to nail down this problem?
Yes there is. On Windows it is in <Program Files>\Ableton\Live 3.0\Preferences and it is called Log.txt

Would you be so kind as to send me that file (don't post it, it is quite long) and describe your system in more detail:

1. Processor
2. Amount of RAM
3. Audio Hardware (in your case anything apart from the Delta 1010)
4. Operating system
5. anything else that might be of interest

Thank you,

Roddi

Sounds like the same problem I had, which resulted in the BSOD (Blue Screen Of Death) when opening Live3.0 with the Delta ASIO driver selected (Live3.0/WinXP/Delta66 ASIO 5.10.0029).

Switching to the 5.10.0027 version of the driver (a suggestion from an Ableton tech) seemed to resolve it.

Yeah, I've been getting the same error with version 3.0... and I'm using 5.10.0029 drivers with M-Audio Audiophile 2496 card.

Now, I do remember that Live 2 worked just fine with these drivers when I tried it out a while ago... but this new one seems to choke.

Anyone has any suggestions, beside switching back to 5.10.0027 drivers, which I can't get done properly...
