My ONE BIG WISH: to type the value of an envelope point!

Hi,
I've searched endlessly for this, so I guess this feature is just not available in Live. When drawing envelopes in tracks (to automate volume, gain, high tones, lowtones etc...) I have to drag them with my mouse. Now, I know I can be more precise by holding control, but I hate it that I can't just type in a value. Now most of my envelope points are like +0.1 dB and -0.02 dB, when they should be 0 dB. I know it's not a real problem, since the mouse is a workaround, but I'd like to type them in exact (like you can type in your tempo). Using the mouse is also tricky because most of the time the envelope point is accidentally moved horizontally, and it always takes some zooming to put it back at the right place.

I think that feature would be very handy. If I'm wrong and it's already in there, please explain me :) Tnx!

no you're definitely right, its not there and its one of those detail features that needs to be added, very slow and annoying when your trying to get your envelopes right .. especially if the arrange grid is locking up :)

I agree.

Might be of some use : control+ mouse fine tunes your enveloppe

Not to be posting on tihs one excessively, but I feel that the lack of "precision" tools is keeping Live from being considered a serious production tool. Several of my producer peers have mentioned the need to be able to meter exactly, and to be able to set things like envelop points with a degree of precision currently not available.

I personally just use my ears, but a lot of other folks prefer the precision.

Hi!

Just checking back on my topic: is there any progress made about this?

I'm still using Live 5.0.2, but I'm curious about the beta's: did they add the possibility to type in the values of enveloppe points?

I do know about the control+mouse technique, but I don't like it. I don't know if somebody here works with Adobe Premiere (video editing software), but I really like the way you can set enveloppe points there and type in their value... Maybe that's a good example for Ableton's user interface programmers regarding the enveloppe-approach.

Agree, it would also be good to be able to snap envelope points on the grid when you move them outside the drawing mode

Yeah, that's also a good idea!
