Why can't I open a liveset in Live4 once it has been saved in Live5?
They cannot be serious about this -how can I solve this anyone??

Hi,

Can you open a cubase SX2 song in cubase SX ? or a Pro tools 6 song in Pro Tools 5 ? I guess the process is the same... It's sad, but that's the rule here.
Sorry,
Cheers,

What your asking for is forwards compatibility.

Live 5 does things that Live 4 cannot. Say, for example, you have a clip with "complex" warping, or a track you've frozen. How on earth is that going to work in Live 4?

So forwards, backwards who? cares!

The point is, as has been out-pointed. that a "save as Live4"- option would have been nice, and (I'm guessing) not too difficult to achieve.

The liveset in question is for all intents and purposes destroyed for me: no "biggie", but its a principal issue.

I wonder if the good people of Ableton have done this in order to force people like me to switch permanently to Live5?

BTW: thanks for your replies!

This has annoyed me too

I have upgraded to live 5 a while ago and played around with most of my sets in 5 to test out it's functions etc. Now, after I've reached the conclusion that I want to go back to 4 because 5 is very unstable for me I can't access pretty much all of my sets. I feel alot of work is out of my reach. I understand the compatabiliy arguments but I'm still annoyed.

AND

Just by opening tracks in live 5, the live 4 warp markers are deleted meaning I now have to rewarp lots of tracks on my computer. This too is hugely frustrating...
