Difference between Boxed and Download versions?

Post by nebulae » Fri Jul 22, 2005 8:09 pm

What's the difference? Is there anything on the Live 5 disc that I can't get via download?

Hi nebulae,

the boxed version contains 2 CDs.
One called "Program Disk" containing the Live 5 Application, Manuals and several Live Packs.
All contained Live packs will be available via download beginning/middle of next week.

The other one called "Library Disk" contains additional Content that is (for now) exclusive for the the boxed version. But the last word is not spoken on this issue. There are still some legal questions we have to clear.

regards,
Alex

Thanks Alex.

I appreciate the clarification. Please make this clear on the website - I'm sure there are people who bought the download and now wish they could by the boxed version.

Again, great effort.

so now the question is, "Is that Library disk worth $30?"

Maybe not but I'd pay that just for the printed manual. Beats a PDF by a long shot.

MMMMM spiral binding.

Printed manual...dude you're showing your age... :)

Also, I thought all Oregonians were tree-huggers! (spent three years at U of O). Save the trees...get the download :)

I still sport the Live3 stickers all over the place....I hope there's a sheet of stickers in the boxed version since I already ordered it hoping that.

So, how do we 'upgrade' to the boxed version?

I've unlocked my Live 4 for the first time after June 1, 2005, so i got the Live 5 serial number for free.
Can I by a boxed version of Live 5??
Will it be the same that the full price Live 5 box?
For how much and where?
Thanks

Hmmm. Beginning to regret not getting the boxed upgrade. I was thinking I'd print the manual at work... But "additional content" - what might that be? Sounds for Impulse/Simpler? Ordinary audio loops? The first I'd like, the second I can do without...

But more Live Packs? Yum!

Cheers,
Mikael

boxed version $30? Can folks who downloaded the free upgrade to 5 find that? I can't find it anywhere . . .

Also sent email to Ableton.

I got a response from Ableton, but they requested I send my credit card info over email, which I just won't do. There needs to be an easy way to do this. I also was considering getting Operator before the deal expires, does anyone know how to do that if you've already upgraded?

You also get a T-shirt... Considering the price of cool shirts these days it's a good deal I'd say.
