I don't know if that has been addressed before, I couldn't find it threw a search.
It would be lovely to be able to automate the mute and solo of impulse, very handy for live situation if one doesn't like to create an audio track per slot.
Don't you think ?

I've been asking for the same thing for the very same reasons. It makes so much sense to have remote control over those two parameters that I'm really puzzled why the geniuses at Ableton would have missed this. They've tricked out the program so much for live performance and live composition that this is a glaring omission. Making 7 extra audio tracks in order to gain MIDI control of the mutes is not an easy or efficient workaround.

Let's keep our fingers crossed...

You can...
Use 8 pitch plugins in a midi rack that filter out notes.
MIDI mute ;)
Much better then audio mute imo.

hoffman2k, what did you mean with "8pitch plugin in a rack" ??

you mean your precious device which is there : http://www.ableton.com/forum/viewtopic. ... highlight=
?

if not, i'm interested by a new solution

but if you mean that: I JUST THANK YOU ABOUT THAT!
it works fine.

I use it as a chain in another big rack for live performance.
works so fine!

Hi Julien,

If you look at the dates of posting, you'll notice that most of this is for Live 5.

As of Live 6, you can simply use a "Dummy Rack" to be able to control Mute/Solo by MIDI. Its part of the MIDI Effect pack we recently released, but its super simple to make.

You just create 8 chains in a midi rack with no devices on the chains. You set each chain to a note that is equal to the impulse. (C3, D3, E3....)
Now you can assign MIDI button to the Mute/Solo buttons in the rack.

In my opinion, this works better then if Ableton would actually implement it on the impulse. Because you would be cutting of the tail of your sounds. By muting the incoming midi, you can prevent that.

Cheers
