Hi folks,

we just released another beta version of an upcoming bugfix update, Live 8.1.2b6

Version: 8.1.2b6
Expire date: 2010/03/19

Download links:

http://downloads.ableton.com/extra/5839 ... _812b6.dmg
http://downloads.ableton.com/extra/5839 ... _812b6.zip

You might wonder how this update relates to the bug-fixing phase that has been announced recently http://forum.ableton.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=132761.
The upcoming 8.1.2 update addresses some issues but is not yet the result of our special bug-fixing efforts.
We cannot yet tell when those will be released but we'll keep you informed.

Kind Regards
/Alex

Changes from Live 8.1.2b5 to Live 8.1.2b6

Bugfixes

Hot-swapping a groove could crash Live.[6688]

Depending on the clipboard content, pasting into a slot of a closed group track could crash Live. [6685]

Clicking into a session track header could crash Live. [6683]

When using a APC, auto scrolling would not stop when holding down down shift and the APC is in zooming-out mode. [6771]

When using Novation's Launchpad, feedback would not always work properly. [6744]

Dragging a small sample on looper could crash Live. [6743]

Also still no fix for the sustain MIDI problem.

Very sad, doesn't anybody else use Live for playing and looping keyboards live? I use it with a V-synth XT sound module with all 16 voices as well as 10 other synths in Live and now every time I play something and stop it there are endless drones gone zombie. My show is in shambles at this point as I can't do any real-life playing and looping without having to go back and manually bring the automation envelope down, which is hard if at that point I need to jump into a guitar solo or start singing. I'll have to tell the audience "ok be patient here, I need to go click on the thing, just pretend I didn't do it" LOL

Pfew, thanks! *rubbingsweatfromforehead*

I already began to become nervous about the expiration date and some cool Live sets which just developed while testing Beta5...

Also still no fix for the sustain MIDI problem.
Are you sure this is a bug? Any DAW, which has a controller 64 (sustain) on, then you hit stop, the sound will keep going. You rather use the Stop Clips button. might fix your bug.

I know most DAW's have the all notes off when you hit spacebar, but Live still doesn't have it. It's a feature missing more than a bug IMHO

QUESTION for Alex.

Should we be deleting the older beta stuff and wiping out particular preference files to get the best results?

If so any "specific" information on getting the best results would be greatly appreciated.

The problem is that Live doesn't record the use of the sustain pedal at all, it records MIDI as if the sustain pedal was always on. I've even unplugged the sustain pedal to test this and Live still records everything as if I had been pressing the pedal all along. If Live records something I didn't actually do I would say this is a defect :)

Also note this didnt happen in Live 7, it started happening in Live 8, I first noticed it on a few songs I had where I would do lots of quick staccatto which started sounding grandiose at first then felt as if the subway was passing next door and not staccatto at all in Live 8. lol

Not true -- I just tried it. The MIDI notes that Live records start and end when I play and release the keys on my keyboard, and my use of the sustain pedal goes into MIDI CC 64 as a clip envelope.

Why does Ableton not name the file inside the zip? can it not be named 8.1.2b6 instead of just "setup.exe"

b6 is a good one so far... I think the double audio bug is still present, but in terms of stability it seems good, so far...
