I've been waiting for a count in record mode when a clip is already created. This is similar to midi over dub recording, however when attempting this in ableton it's been a pain.

I believe I've discovered this feature on the push 2

1. hold [SHIFT]
2. select [REC], while holding shift. record will blink indicating REC enabled
3. select [PLAY], and your record count-in will begin

Thanks! I hope your workaround works. It's a pain when you have a 4 bar part and I want to start overdubbing right away and have to wait for it to cycle through before I can start playing.

I just re-discovered that if the punch-in and/or punch-out buttons are active count-in won't happen in Arrangement mode. If inactive, there's a count-in if that has been set. So check if you have activated these buttons if you're recording in Arrangement.

I don't use the arrange view very often. The key sequence I provided in an earlier post is achieved through use of Ableton Live 9.5 (session-view) and Push 2.

could anyone using this key sequence post if it works for them or not ?

Pressing Shift then Rec will trigger Arrange recording, it's new since 9.6 I believe.

This is a problem for me as well (lack of count-in for clips already on track).

Only alternative I use is to key bind a key to the Session Record button on the Live GUI (I use the "o" key). Luckily my Push is right by my computer keyboard. Probably not so for other folks.

Heh. I read the "I" as "1" in "9.6.1". My apologies.

I am new to Ableton Live and Push 2. This was driving me nuts. I thought I was doing something wrong. Why would the count in not work, just because there is info already recorded in the clip. If I have stopped the playback (for any reason), when I come back later to get going again, I expect there to be a count in.

Did you not find this to be true?:

Beyond that it's always a good thing to let Ableton know how you feel about an existing or missing function and how you'd like it to work and why. It helps to be understood if you're clear in both mind and communication on what you need and why.

I will try that when I get home just to verify. I failed to mention that I was referring to the session view recording via Push 2, not the arrangement view recording though.
