(Windows only) Hotkeys for Live 5 Browser!

Post by djsynchro » Fri Dec 02, 2005 1:18 am

For all those who want to control the browser buttons from their
computer keyboard: Hotkeys to control the Live 5 browser.

Get it here: [EDITED 07 Feb 2006 FOR LATEST VERSION]
Also now included a compiled script to disable the spacebar.
You can run both together.

http://www.sendmefile.com/00302361
(after you click the "dowload file" button, wait for the countdown and a download link will appear)

If sendmefile doesnt work try abletonusers.com:
http://www.abletonusers.com/index.php?o ... einfo&id=6

Live_5_Browser_Hotkeys v0.06.exe is a compiled AutoHotkey script,
When doubleclicked it will run in the taskbar and doesn't need AutoHotkey to be installed.

Keycommands:

ALT+1: Open/close browser.
ALT+2..6: Select Devices/Plugins/Browsers 1..3, & select first item
(so you can then navigate up/down folders with the arrow keys).

The original script (with comments) is also included in the .ZIP in case you want to look at it or modify it.
To run it you need AutoHotkey, it's free at www.autohotkey.com

Weird, not to mention: Crap! :?
I wrote it with lots of programs open at the same time, it tests to see if Live is the active window, otherwise it does nothing.

Does it work when you only have Live open?

I tried your suggestions, the only thing which helped was editing the script and taking out the "WinWaitActive, Live 5," lines...

Changed the way the script tests to see if Live is the active window.
Can you try to see if that works?

:D

Again: great work, DJ Synchro. Runs fine on my system!
As statet in the other poll, it would be nice if Ableton implenent this feature in the app.

Apple user should look for a tool like QuicKeys (as i stated in your poll). Just record the Mouseclicks and assign this macro to a keypress.

Yes, you can do a lot of funny things with autohotkey!
And here is my fav for the moment:

Have you ever tried to map a key to the sample reverse button?
As I know this insn't possible in live!

:idea: -> You got it!?!

With autohotkey you can do it! Just write a little script (like this one to open the browser but with the mouse coordinates for the sample reverse button and another keystroke).

Now you can trigger the reverse button for every sample that is selected at the moment (!) by computerkey or even a midi controler (with bome's miditranslator)!
This works fine, especially for short samples (because the loading-time isn't so long). Maybe a drumloop...

Cool, ah  !

I changed it to make it more reliable, wouldn't always select the top item.
I will always edit the original post if I change or improve the script.

:D

Bump!!!
