Please be sure the drivers for your audio device are properly installed and that the hardware is properly installed, turned on and/or connected to the computer.

The buffer size of the Apogee Duet interface can't be set to powers of two.

If recording works, then you have correctly connected your input source to the inputs of your audio hardware. Make sure that the outputs of your audio hardware are also connected.
